Get Local - Monterey County
For those of you who live in the Monterey County area and are interested in volunteering on a local campaign, let me tell you about Jane Parker, who's running for the Board of Supervisors.

Jane is a Vice-President of Development for Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, She's the Chair of the MPC Board of Trustees, and she was a member of the Social Services Commission for a number of years.

She's a true Progressive, and she's running for an open seat against two other well-funded candidates.

My fellow Democrats, years ago the republican party made a commitment to get conservative republicans elected to local offices. And we now see the result. As important as the upcoming Presidential race is, we must also invest in local candidates so we can rebuild our party with true progressives and not with DINOS, all too willing to compromise with big business on everything.

Jane is great on economic issues, such as affordable housing, which is a true mess in Monterey County, and she has a fabulous vision and ability to get things done. She has worked tirelessly on behalf of Measure Q, even while campaigning for herself and working her job full-time. She's truly incredible and could use some serious money and volunteer time to help her campaign. (She was the top fundraiser for the first quarter and did it the old fashioned way, with a lot more donors giving a smaller amount than the other two candidates)

She has a website: www.electjaneparker.com, and she has a campaign office.

The number is 831-582-9108. The woman who works for the campaign is named Jennifer, I don't know her last name, but she really needs some volunteers to help with mailings and phone calls and precinct walking. This is a true grassroots campaign and could use everyones help on this site.

All my best,

Dems2004!!!

1. I live in Santa Cruz County
But my brother lives in Monterey County and I know he would support her. I will check out her website, thanks for posting this!

I have a soft spot for candidates who raise a lot of money through small donors... :)

4. I hope so
I did some research on Jane, she sounds great. Not sure about her opponents, one is a Repub. ex-mayor of Seaside.
