Poll question: Which former senator would you like to run for the Senate again
I see many posters (including myself) wishing that Max Cleland would give it another go in 2004. I was wondering who everyone else thought should join Frank Lautenberg as a returnee to the Senate.

5. I'd vote for him again, but....
We've got some other great candidates, too.

It's great to have an over-abundance of Democratic talent in Illinois!

14. Adlai is a tad old
I do wish Paul Simon was still in the Senate though. What a class act. He was one of the greatest Senators Illinois ever had, next to Paul Douglas and Adlai Stevenson.

6. I wasn't really aware of Max C until he lost
but now see what Georgia has been deprived of since he was defeated (and his replacement seems to be an empty suit, notable only for his easily-mangled name). I love that he's speaking out on the lack of complete access to info going to the 9/11 commission -- hope he keeps at it.

9. I had to go with Max Cleland
Though it would've been great to have had Bob Kerrey return to the Senate and run against Chuck Hagel in 2002 or to have Dick Bryan run against John Ensign in 2006.

15. Gary Hart
Second would be Max Cleland because the two of them would be strong candidates who we need right now if we want to win in Georgia and Colorado.

17. Originally it was Wyche Fowler I wanted to run again...
but now that I know he's another fan of Zell's new book, I'm hoping to see Max win re-election.

19. SECONDED!
Paul Simon is my personal hero. It's dissapointing that such a man of integrity, honesty, and candor would step down after only two terms as Senator. He could easily still have been Senator today.

I think that he would've made a fantastic President too, too bad he couldn't break free from lack of funding. What a great guy.

23. Warner is 1000x better than Allen though
Allen is among one of my most dispised Senators. Right next to that ass Zell Miller, that dirty bastard Saxby Chambliss, and that religous bigot Rick Santorum.
