Dean holds 22% lead over Kerry in NH
Poll: Dean Leads Pack In New Hampshire Race

DURHAM, N.H. -- Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean has expanded his lead over his rivals in the New Hampshire primary race, according to a new poll.

The telephone poll of 446 likely voters, conducted by WMUR-TV and the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, shows 38 percent of New Hampshire voters plan to choose Dean at the polls with less than three months to go before the Jan. 27 primary.

Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry is second, with 16 percent of voters. Retired Gen. Wesley Clark and North Carolina Sen. John Edwards have 5 percent support, while Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman is fifth, with 4 percent.

Four percent support Missouri Rep. Dick Gephardt, who has spent more time campaigning in Iowa than New Hampshire. Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich has 1 percent support, while the Rev. Al Sharpton and Carol Moseley Braun trailed with no significant support.

3. Kerry's more likely to pull a gold nugget out of his ass
than win NH after going all over the state speaking in favor of gun control. The polls are only going to get worse for him and better for Dean. Also, since Dean is the one Kerry is attacking and NH is getting turned off by Kerry, even more are going to vote for Dean just because the "gun control guy" doesn't like him. The Kerry campaign has really shot themselves in the foot in the Granite State.

4. I suspect you're right
I heard from someone who attends Dartmouth that the attitudes towards guns in NH statewide border on fetish. Any possibility of gun control is taken VERY seriously as a potential abridgement of rights.

13. You're friend from Dartmouth is right
I live just over the river in Vermont, about 20 minutes from Dartmouth. I work in NH and am there every day. The Democrats in NH treat the subject like the plague. They wouldn't willingly touch the topic of gun control with a 50 foot pole because it WILL lose elections for them. Kerry is going to sink like an elephant in quick sand in NH over this one. There won't be any recovering from it, either. If he loses NH badly, he's toast...and there is just no way he is going to do well in NH now that all newspapers and network news over the state has spent the last almost two weeks broadcasting loudly that Kerry favors gun control. He may as well drop out and not waste the money in my opinion.

8. What Is It About 446 People That Makes Y'all Talk Like 3 Year Olds?
Seriously, the comments in here are pretty juvenile. I would think we could be more mature than that.

19. Well I guess the pile on Dean over the confederate flag
remark didn't pan out. I suppose most people who heard about it understood Dean's intentions with his remark. It didn't hurt him in North Carolina either--a new statewide poll shows him running second to John Edwards 43-25 percent with everyone else in single digits.
