New CBS News Poll: Dean and Gephardt lead nationally

New CBS News Poll: Dean and Gephardt lead nationally
This was actually released yesterday. Here are the results:

Dean 14% (9% in Sept)
Gephardt 12% (10% in Sept)
Clark 9% (12% in Sept)
Lieberman 9% (no change)
Kerry 7% (8% in Sept)
Braun 4% (no change)
Sharpton 3% (no change)
Edwards 2% (no change)
Kucinich 2% (1% in Sept)
Other 15%
Don't Know: 23%

55% of Democrats can now name a candidate for president without prompting (up from about a third a few months ago). Here is a ranking of candidate named most to least:

Dean: 21%
Clark 9%
Kerry 9%
Gephardt 4%
Lieberman 2%
Edwards 2%
Kucinich 2%
Shapton 2%
Braun 1%
H. Clinton 1%
Other 2%
Can't name a candidate 45%

1. Does this mean everybody who knows Clark is for him
and only 2/3 of people who know who Dean is support the former Governor of Vermont?

2. doubt it since only 4% know Gephardt is in the race, yet he is
in second place.

4. That's what I first thought, but -
it actually says "who's the first democrat that comes to your mind." Dean is the first guy running who comes into my mind, too, but I'm supporting Clark as my first choice.

That said, I do think it has some influence - some people might just name the person they're supporting first. Who knows? Strange way to word the poll. They should probably say, "Can you name anyone running for the Democratic nomination?" "If yes, name anyone you think is running - name as many people as you'd like." Then you'd get a more representative response.

5. heh it aint over folks
45% still cant name anyone. BTW Gep in second place? shocker imo, now I am disappointed with Gep on IWR amongst others but lets say that I really like Gep on economic policy, I really think hes good on it.
