Poll question: Who do you want to win the Florida Senate Primary |
|
There are currently five candidates running for (or seriously considering) the 2004 nomination for the U. S. Senate from Florida.

Deutsch seems mean. Penelas has upset black and jewish groups, I believe. I also think he didn't really help out Gore in 2000 and that is unexceptable. Hastings is completely unelectable. I don't know anything about Campbell and I don't think he is well known enough.
Castor seems like a fairly solid candidate. She has won state office, but it was a long time ago. The republican field is currently flawed and she would be the safest candidate. Hopefully, Mel Martinez doesn't get into the race. I think he would be the favorite if he does.

4. I'm between Castor and Deutsch |

I've never heard any real press about Campbell. I think that Hastings would come bearing too much baggage. Penelas seems like a Richard Shelby waiting to happen.
Castor has proven she can be elected statewide and Deutsch is bound to become a senator some time (he was close to or did run in 2000, if he didn't run this time, he'd probably run in 2006 if Nelson (fingers crossed) runs for governor). Then we'd have Sens. Deutsch and Castor and Gov. Nelson.
