Trippi/Dean response to Bush's ad campaign
Edited on Fri Nov-21-03 02:42 PM by CMT
Call it rapid response. I guess the $100 I was going to contribute this month will go towards this.

p.s.
It is not clear if this $$ is going to be used to do a counter ad to refute Bush. I would hope so, and if not we should let HQ know that would be the best course since the Bush ad is running in NH and Iowa only it would be a perfect opportunity for Dean to go head to head against Bush.

3. Oh god
Ya know reading that attack on Kerry today made me realize something very important, we may have differences now, but we gonna have to unite sometime to support the nominee, I think we need a better message of unity than ABB honestly, now I am ABB but I think we need a better message last time I said this I got flamed well possibly because people thought I said I wasnt ABB, but we need a better unity messge.

5. Unity
I think we'll all come together behind our nominee once the person is chosen. I know if your guy wins, I'll be giving him money and support.

12. I missed that
Was it in your local paper, is it online? I didn't see it, but I hope Bush proves he really does think we can drill our way out of our oil problem and he's willing to drill anywhere to try. It's obvious we can't.

Edited on Fri Nov-21-03 02:46 PM by unfrigginreal
Or is this going into the regular campaign funds?

7. It will be interesting to see what affect the ad has
on the Dem candidates, if any. Did you notice how they soften Bush's voice in the ad. Creepy!

8. I'm a little worried about this
Is it the idiot president's intention to attack us now, forcing the candidates to start spending their $$ to fight him directly now instead of after the primaries? Money that should have been spent campaigning in the primaries now has to be diverted to address these attacks so early on?

9. I'm sure that's part of their strategy
Trippi's response is to use this ad to energize Dean's base to donate. I'm sure that these funds will be used sometime in the future to develop ads attacking Bush and I think that Dean will be the first Dem Prez candidate out with one.

MoveOn.org will be coming out with a response add soon.

Trippi should use Bush's "Mission Accomplish" carrier photo op against the Shrub. They should all use it against Bush.

11. To Dean, a Bush image is fodder
By Sarah Schweitzer, Globe Staff, 11/8/2003

NASHUA -- Presidential contender Howard Dean plans to air television commercials showing footage of President Bush's landing on the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln -- images Bush deployed as a triumphant visual coda to the Iraq conflict but which Dean says are now powerful reminders of a war gone wrong.

With mounting casualties and unrest in Iraq, the images, which include a backdrop banner reading "Mission Accomplished," are increasingly viewed by Bush's political opponents as a liability. Dean is the first Democrat to commit to using them in his ads.

"We're going to put up the aircraft carrier ad and show what his real defense is," Dean said in an interview on Thursday. "We're going to use this footage of him landing on the aircraft carrier . . . to show that he's all talk and no action. And the action he's got us into has cost us 400 lives and thousands of wounded people who will never get their limbs back."

10. My plan...
This would NEVER happen, but I would love to see all the Democratic Presidential candidates pool whatever money they can afford and pay for a major ad campaign in response to bush's ridiculous claim that "some are critical of Bush for going after terrorists".

This allows the candidates who don't have as much money to do their part in advertising against bush, and it allows the candidates with a lot of money to get more bang for their buck...plus it's an act of unity. Besides, the top money candidates are probably going to make an ad to respond anyway so instead of several $100,000-$400,000 ads, why not one huge 1 million dollar ad?
