a politician of protest, pandering and pessimism - or leader of principle
the above is the campaign slogan being test marketed this weekend by Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign Manager, Ken Mehlman, at this weeks Republican Governors conference (recieved via email).

"who could have imagined the tests he would face ...

He united Americans to overcome these challenges and proposed solutions that would transform crises into new opportunities .

three years have changed our world ...but they haven't changed our president...as certain today as he was in 2000 of the principles that make America work ... and that make the world safe--freedom, opportunity, security.

"Eleven months from now we will choose between victory in Iraq or insecurity in America.

"Eleven months from now we will choose between more money in the pockets of families or more money in the coffers of the government.

"And eleven months from now we will choose between a leader of principle or a politician of protest, pandering and pessimism. The choice is ours. But the legacy will belong to our children. What kind of world will we leave them? What kind of America will they inherit? Under President Bush's leadership, they will find the world a much better place, and a much stronger nation."

I wonder how it will focus group - or will we have a new version next month?

:-(

3. What the heck is wrong with pandering?
I like pandas. They're cute and harmless, and cuddly.

The GOP is missing out if they don't like pandas.

8. It will be really sad if the Democrats elect a nominee
who makes Bush look like a principled leader in comparison.

9. Something that is very alarming to me...
They are very good at twisting the facts to make this look like the Democrats do not WANT to fight terrorism. Many people buy into this. They see the Chimpy as a hero who "stood up to the terrorists" and went an kicked their a#*.

Now, how can we, as Democrats, turn this around? I want to say to them "Show me the terrorists this administration has caught". Where are they? How much progress have we made? Why are they, yet again, cautioning about further attacks? How much safer do YOU feel?

It just makes me want to scream. A couple of weeks ago, when I was canvassing for my candidate, one woman said to me, "We're Bush people". I said "I'm sorry." and started walking away. She yelled after me, "Bush is the real man!" There are many people out there who really believe this. Ugh! Why can't they see that I have more man in my little finger than Bush does in his whole body, and I'M A WOMAN!
