Kerry remembers Kennedy, attacks Bush
On the 40th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, presidential hopeful John Kerry promised to carry on Kennedy's spirit by pushing aside special interests and being a better example to the rest of the world.

At a pancake breakfast, Kerry told reporters he met Kennedy the summer between his high school and college years and said several conversations he had with the president inspired his political career. He hopes to follow in Kennedy's footsteps from serving as a senator from Massachusetts to becoming president of the United States.

Kerry gave the vision for his first 100 days of his presidency and the new "bring it on" mentality that seems to be driving an edgier campaign.

He said he believes the Bush administration is driven by greed. He raged against a massive energy bill that would lead to more production of oil, gas, coal and ethanol.

He highlighted his own environmental record, which includes successfully lobbying against drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

"Like President Kennedy's challenge in the 1960s to go to the moon, I'm going to ask America to go to the moon right here on earth by discovering oil-free, gas-free, fossil-fuel-free energy source of the future," he said. "And never will any American go abroad and give their life to defend it."

Kerry said he would place $20 billion from oil and gas revenues into an energy and conservation trust fund.

He lashed out against the Bush administration for allowing "special interests" to send young men and women to war.

"Never, should young Americans in uniform, ever, be held hostage to America's dependency on fossil-fuel from the Middle East," he said.

The day of the assassination, Kerry, then a student at Yale University, was playing Harvard in a soccer game.

"When I came back to the bench, I learned he had been declared dead," Kerry said. "To this day, I can't remember who won that game."

2. Maybe hes a fan of this guy not likely being he likes the red sox

Jim Palmer was a star picture for the orioles from the mid 60's to the mid 80's. A mighty good one I might add, who loved his pancakes. I prefer Belgian Waffles :9 to pancakes. I liked the interview though and I like his vision for the environment, he really does I think have a bit in common with John Kennedy, I think.

Interestingly enough, my candiate's diet is probably not even close to my own, I admit it, I eat a lot of meat, I became sorta a neighborhood legend due to a porkchops incident, I love my meat, but hey what he eats doesnt matter, as long as he can speak his mind and give me a vision I like, all is good.

5. The DEMs have a guy running for President who ran with JFK...
Edited on Sat Nov-22-03 09:26 PM by Octafish
... and all you got to add is to criticize him for liking pancakes?

Are there any issues you might like to address, like the 40th anniversary of the death of JFK?

The fact we DEMs got a real Liberal running for President in Sen. John Kerry?

The fact Lt. John Kerry also is a real-life war hero?

The fact Lt. John Kerry (Ret.) also worked to stop that war when he got home?

The fact Sen. John Kerry busted Ollie North and the Reagan-Bush White House for Iran-Contra drug running?

The fact Sen. John Kerry busted BCCI and in the process uncovered how the BFEE operates?

Gee. When compared to pancakes, I can see what you're up against.

EDIT: Your into you're.
