EDWARDS Picks Up Backing In O.K.

(11/22/03) As a two-day campaign swing through Oklahoma got started Friday, U.S. Sen. John Edwards picked up the endorsement of the McCurtain County Democrats.

Edwards addressed a morning gathering sponsored by the group that drew about 150 people to the front of the county courthouse in Idabel.

"John Edwards is the 21st century version of John Kennedy," said Cissy Crusoe, the county party chairwoman.

Oklahoma holds its primary Feb. 3, the same day that South Carolina and five other states have nominating contests.
