Herseth is running and only 7% of SD voters think Janklow should run for Re-election. If Thune seeks his old seat, he will probably win. If Thune runs against Daschle, Herseth will probably win but Daschle might be at risk. It's all up to whether Thune wants to re-enter politics and whether he wants the more high profile difficult battle with Daschle or the easier race with Herseth.
How is Inez Tannenbaum fairing in SC?

It's been really quiet here on the Democratic side. Meanwhile, the four Republican candidates are beginning to hit each other over the head with shovels, and it's gonna be an absolutely brutal primary. Four of the 5 who are running on their side are unelectable statewide, and the one who is remaining(Rep. Jim DeMint) voted for PNTR with China, which severely handicaps his campaign from the start, as the textiles industry in the state is really hurting from Chinese imports.

Whether he will run again (though currently he seems likely to finish his term).
Thune will decide by the end of December to early January if he'll reenter politics. Hopefully he'll choose not to, therefore leaving Democrats with a safe Senate seat and a House pickup. Herseth is a real future star. If she wins in 2004, I see her being the heir apparent for the 2010 Senate race, when Daschle will likely retire.
