Poll: Dean Leads DC Primary Field
Poll: Dean Leads DC Primary Field

Washington (AP) - Howard Dean is the clear leader in the D.C. Democratic primary field, according to a poll released Tuesday.

In the poll commissioned by WJLA-TV and WTOP radio, Dean leads the field of nine Democratic contenders with 27 percent support. Wesley Clark is second with 11 percent. However, Clark and four other prominent Democrats have taken their names off the ballot for the Jan. 13 contest.

Of the four remaining candidates, Dean has even stronger support, leading the Rev. Al Sharpton 45 percent to 11 percent.

1. This would be the same Dean that can't appeal to African Americans?
Maybe he is busing Vermonters into DC for these polls. Or maybe it is a push poll. Maybe Rove is controlling them with mind waves picked up in their fillings. It couldn't be that Dean is getting African Americans to vote for him legitimately. I know, from reading this board, that no self respecting African American would vote for Dean. Well, except for Congress people Jackson and Lee that is.

2. Appeal
I see no reason Dean wouldn't appeal to African-Americans for the very reasons he said last night at the debate. Like everybody else they want to hear about jobs, food on the table, health care. What's not to like?

3. Most of the city council endorsed him as well as huge sections of the CBC.
He is going to dominate among blacks when all is said and done.
