Dean hires campaign director for South Carolina
Dean campaign hires director for campaign

COLUMBIA, S.C. --
Democratic presidential hopeful Howard Dean has hired a state campaign director and plans to open offices here.

Don Jones said the campaign will open a Columbia office within the week and will hire eight staffers and open a Charleston office by next month.

State Democratic Party leaders were pleased with the news, as the former Vermont governor has made only one public visit to South Carolina since the Democrats' first nationally televised debate in May 3.

"It shows they're interested in competing in our primary," state party executive director Nu Wexler said.

Jones said Dean is taking the primary seriously, adding, "We're going to win South Carolina."

2. Off-topic, but interesting...
When I clicked on the story link, the Herald Tribune uses sponsored ad links...basically an engine that generates ads for websites that are similar to the content of the story. Google does this, I'm not sure where these ads came from.

Anyhow, the news story popped up with links to these websites:

1)Dean Live Online at the Washington Post
2)A card company's ad for "Howard Dean Bears" - campaign stuffed teddy bears.
3)Howard Dean for President - www.deanforamerica.com

The 3rd made me happy - another example of smart advertising and campaigning by the Howard Dean campaign...you see a news story about Howard Dean, and right there is the link to the campaign! Smart, very smart!!
