The most serious election of your lifetime!
My fellow Democrats and progressives, this is it - the most important Presidential election you will ever take part in for America. If you have not realized that yet, by reminded of the following:

Terrorism is on the rise against us, and our government tells us it will go on indefinitely. But does this make sense? No, because we are being lied to about it. No one is talking about the covert terrorism our government has done for decades in our name, and against those least able to defend themselves, the world's poor. Why would the USA do this when we say we are the champions of human rights and democracy? The reason is because our government is not working for us anymore, but for the big multinational corporations (MNCs) instead. Although, we, the people, are paying most of the taxes, the corporations are paying most of our politicians. The military - industrial complex Eisenhower warned us about has become the U.S. Military - Industrial Empire. And most of our politicians are involved in maintaining the Empire - John McCain has said, "We are all corrupt!"

And guess who controls what we think? Most of American media is now owned by 5 major corporations, and they want to consolidate even more. Surly you noticed during the buildup to war on Iraq how our media trumpeted the White House rhetoric without any serious questioning about the validity of what we were planning to do. These corporations own most of our radio and TV stations (although we, the people, own the airwaves they broadcast over). The same ones own our entertainment companies (movies, video games, etc.). And they own our print media. They control most everything we are exposed to intellectually, except for some magazine and book companies, and a few (extremely few) radio and TV stations. Our society has become close to Orwellian.

It saddens me deeply to include our Democratic politicians in this corruption, but anyone paying attention can see that is true. They are all too willing to support the military Empire while our country's infrastructure collapses, the worst part being our schools, which our children's future, and the future of the country, depends on for survival. That is, if they are not just being trained to be combat soldiers for the Empire of our rich elite!

Yes, this election is serious! But to make the right voting decisions this time, we have a barrage of propaganda to see through if we are to succeed. Millions are pouring into the Bush campaign for just that purpose, and the propaganda has already started with an ad that calls anyone unpatriotic who is against the current U.S. policy in Iraq and the so-called "war on terror." You can expect the corporate media to follow suit with promoting candidates who will support the Empire, and try to discredit those who don't.

Only three Democratic Presidential hopefuls (Kucinich, Braun, and Sharpton) don't support what the Empire is doing. Kucinich has the best chance for success. If you want to return the USA to its values of supporting human rights, economic decency, social justice, and that of promoting a peaceful and secure future for us and the world, vote for Dennis Kucinich in the Democratic Primary and get Dennis nominated as the New leader of the Democratic Party.

2. As long as the Neo-Cons are running around
EVERY friggin election is the most serious in our lifetime. It will be impossible to claim victory until the BFEE is in jail. But up until now, yes, this is the most important election of our lifetime.

6. I agree. . .
but, if we (myself included) had treated every election as half as important as this one. . .maybe we wouldn't be this bad off.

10. The only problem with what you are advocating....
Edited on Fri Nov-28-03 04:43 PM by Frenchie4Clark
is that Denis can not beat Bush... period.

SINCE THIS IS "MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD",

why advocate that we vote for someone that's at 2% currently and has some of the worst stats in beating Bush.....

Duh....something does not compute!

oh, and welcome to DU!:spank:

12. What does current standing have to do with anything?
All campaigns are a matter of education - or propaganda depending on your point of view. But Americans are intelligent, more than statisticians and pollsters give them credit for being.

When people understand the issues we are up against, the best choice is Dennis Kucinich! It is up to those of us who believe in him to convince the rest on the way to the Democratic nomination. I say to the Democratic Party, "Please don't give me another Bill Clinton type closit Republican - lite or otherwise!" Our country is sinking in its own Imperial mess. We can't afford to keep going in this direction. The only way out in this election is Dennis Kucinich!

11. It is......Supreme Court retirements and nominees
I never vote republican, but not always for the democrat (Too many dino candidates). However, this is the most important election due to the potential balance swaying supreme court retirements and replacements. Just another Scalia, Rehnquist or Thomas would kill the precarious equilibrium that currently exists if O'connor or Kennedy step aside. Beware, this could happen before the election next year. Don't let it happen. EMAN
