2. I support him when he is being attacked unfairly here.
My top two guys are Kerry and Kucinich, but, I support the candidacies of others, including Gephardt who has carried alot of liberal water for Dems over so many years.

3. Yes he has
That's why I find his absence so odd. Maybe it's just the internet thing.

15. I agree...
I think he has much support, but many of these people include the support of older Democratic voters, union members, and farmers. But many of these people would not show up in a DU straw poll. Four votes is the highest level of support I have seen yet for Gephardt at DU. I believe two of the people posting in this thread are Gephardt backers, and a DUer I know of in ST. LOUIS is a third.

4. He's ok with me
He has really fought for those basic Democratic values over the years. He stuck to his beliefs all through the Clinton years, even though he lost alot of those fights. I think he's a good guy and I'd be proud to support him for President. I don't think he could win though.

He has really fought for those basic Democratic values over the years.

so, how did he vote on the "basic democratic values" like the IWR and the patriot act?

7. I like those votes
So stick that in your pipe and smoke it. I'm sick of hearing about them, it's ignorant, divisive and short-sighted.

It's the one thing about Dennis that I don't like. The world isn't all peace, love and happiness. Sometimes you have to get tough and defend yourself. Sometimes the laws aren't sufficient to do that. Sometimes you have to act quickly and then go back and fix the errors. If we'd had a Democratic President when the IWR OR Patriot Act had passed, we would have had different results with both. Bush failed on both of them. Now we vote his ass out and put somebody in who respects civil rights and international diplomacy. Gephardt qualifies on both counts and no amount of slinging those votes out will change that.

8. so you're the one putting those spybots onto us!!!!
Now I can feel some relief that whenever my files in the C drive are being scanned by some funky, internet virus late at night..at least my personal info is going to someone I can trust...:7

9. That's why you vote Bush out
And get somebody in who doesn't do these kinds of things. Put the blame where it lies, not on people who passed laws and would have implemented them to respect privacy and civil rights.

10. makes sense...
nice spybots as opposed to the vicious ones, that cause memory leaks and those other weird flukes in one's well-managed operating system.

11. No, sweetums
No spybots. Court orders based on real evidence to get spybots. You know, a real justice system.

12. actually I go by sweettooth...
"Heaven doesn't want me and Hell is afraid I'll take over"...a quote from the big man himself!

Spybots are here to stay, with or without court orders...

6. He's midway down my list
He's awkward, not at all telegenic, has a twangy voice and projects poorly. Wish he'd just stayed in the House.

Should he win the nomination, I'd be happy to vote for him in spite of his votes for IWR and the Patriot Act.

14. Has anyone ever met a Lieberman supporter?
Gephardt's near the bottom of my list which goes something like this, subject to change:

1. Dean 2. Kerry 3. Clark 4. Edwards 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. GephardtMoselyBraunSharptonKucinichLieberman.

Appearing on the dias with Bush, as Gephardt did, to announce the War for Halliburton was a bit much for me. I really doubt for the future if the rest of the party picks LiebermanKucinichSharptonMoselyBraunGephardt, though I would vote for any of the 5-6-7-8-9 candidates because, as undesirable as they are, none of them are worse than Bush.

It's not surprising that he's not the most represented, but I figured there'd be more than a couple of people.
