1. that sucks
he was a good man, I always admired him

i remember the first campaign i wsa old enough to pay attention, in 88, and he was a really neat guy to listen to, seemed to make alot of sense to me then

3. Mine, too...a real political hero...
One of the very few bright spots of Reagan's second election of 1984 was Paul Simon's upset of incumbent Republican Charles Percy for the Senate seat from Illinois.

4. He was the first Congressman I ever voted for
I went to school in Southern Illinois, turned 18 and registered to vote down there (I'm from Chicago), and had the pleasure of being in his district.

If only we had many more like Paul Simon. He will be missed.

5. Paul Simon was my hero
I grieve for his death. He was one of the best senators Illinois ever had, right up there with the great Paul Douglas. It is a sad day indeed, and I hope his legacy of principled Democratic politics lives on.

7. I was sorry to hear this.
I had great respect for him. It's kind of a shame all the politicking going on today will drown this out -- he was a good man and served well.
