USA Today drops Coulter
Sigh. It seems like the "mainstream" media would learn. Whenever you try to put a slimy extremist right wing hatemonger into wider circulation, they fall flat on their face. Remember Michael Savage's TV attempt? (I hope you get aids and die). Limbaugh's short-lived TV show failed miserably. And so it was with Ann Coulter's attempt at "journalism" with USA Today.

It was a novel idea: Send a best-selling author to the Democratic Convention and let her criticize it from an outsider's point of view. The problem is that Ann was only a best-selling author because some right-wing sugar daddies bought up whole shipments of her books and left them to gather dust in warehouses. When Ann submitted her first installment, it was held back for what was charitably called "editorial differences".

You can see the column here: http://www.anncoulter.com/ It's really funny. An amateurish, juvenile, temper tantrum. It makes you wonder if she even attended the Convention. Also, she makes strange references to her affinity with the "pretty girls". Wierd.

1. Her comments on Kucinich are so STUPID. This guy stopped the
corporate take over of the energy providers and during the last huge blackout that area was saved because of Kucinich.

"Looking at the line-up of speakers at the Convention, I have developed the 7-11 challenge: I will quit making fun of, for example, Dennis Kucinich, if he can prove he can run a 7-11 properly for 8 hours. We'll even let him have an hour or so of preparation before we open up. Within 8 hours, the money will be gone, the store will be empty, and he'll be explaining how three 11-year olds came in and asked for the money and he gave it to them. "

My question again: WHAT WAS USA today thinking? Had they EVER read one of her rants? Didn't they read Al Franken's debunking of her rancid, rabid "writings?"

3. Coulter gives a whole new twisted sister notion to "girlie man" and
your review characteristics of "amateurish, juvenile etc." is probably the most charitable any editor would make ... her "message" is DOA in the first 5 words -- noone would read further.

6. The Right-Wing Dead-Wrong All-Star Team Lead Cheerleader
Ann Coulter. What do we make of the Head Cheerleader of the Right-Wrong Dead-Wrong All-Star Team?

I usually ignore her, along with all the other team members like Hannity, Pillbaugh, etc. for one simple reason.

They are entertainers, as much entertainers as the Hollywood entertainers they claim to despise.

There's a market for Right-Wing Dead-Wrong All-Stars so these people fill it and the funny thing is that I think really don't have the first clue to what they are espousing. If they really understood the corrosive agenda that they are cheerleading for, would they do it? I don't think so.

But why are they doing it? Because so many of these folks Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Neil Cavuto, and folks like Bill O'Reilly (who was once a national correspondent), and Dennis Miller realize, the market will pay very well for me being a player on the Right-Wing Dead-Wrong All-Star team. Whether they really understand the crap they are shoveling or not.

Just remember Winston Zedemore in "Ghostbusters"

"If there's a study paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say."

There's a steady paycheck in it, and they'll whore themselves out for it. They why I just don't pay them a who lot of mind. If Liberalism was the "cool, hip thang" they'd be right up front doing it.

Also notice how they have to shout everybody down? These people are hilarious. They can't stand straight-up fight without acting like children or calling you treasonous.

Ann Coulter know deep down inside that one of those "corn-fed, no make-up, natural fiber, no-bra needing, sandal-wearing, hirsute, somewhat fragrant hippie chick pie wagons they call "women" at the Democratic National Convention" would intellectually whip her skinny butt.

That's the key. The Right-Wing bullies want to sell the idea that "liberals are weak".

It's a load of crap because they just don't understand.
LIBERALS HAVE HAD TO FIGHT THEIR WHOLE LIVES.

If you're progressive, you've had fight people calling you a "communist."

If you're white and progressive, you've had to fight people calling you a "nigra lovin' communist"

If you're black and progressive (and I'm damn proud to be Black and Progressive), you've had people bomb your church, burn crosses, be told you can't be educated, you can't achive, "get your colored ass out of my bank", then be called an "uppity coon communist."

If you're a woman and progressive, you've been paid less, thought of as less, seen as less unless you are nice piece of tail (and even then get thought of as less) and then you have somebody Ann Coulter have the temer "corn-fed, no make-up, natural fiber, no-bra needing, sandal-wearing, hirsute, somewhat fragrant hippie chick pie wagon." and then being called be her as "bitch treasonous communist."

If you are hispanic and progressive, you have some right-winger come up to your face and ask for a green card or "ENGLISH FIRST", then say "Tu eres un communista muy feo. Take your communist butt back to Mexico."

If you are Christian and progressive, you've had people try to say that Jesus' blessings trickle down, that its okay to bomb clinics and kill doctors, because its "God's Will". You've seen preachers call Apartheid "Inherently Godly", and hold up signs that say "God Kills Fags", and if you speak out you get called a "Spawn Of Satin communist!"

If you are homosexual or transgendered and progressive (although I don't know too many conservative gay, lesbian or tansgendered folk), you've had to fight with discrimination that is sanctioned to the point of being a modern Jim Crow (not that Jim Crow ever went away for my people). You've dealt with brutality, 'official' brutality (we've had some issues where I live with cops harasses gay and transgendered folk), and now legal brutality (a constitutional amendment), and when you speak up you get branded as an "Unamerican Sissy-Fag communist".

Our Conservative adversaries forget that simple fact that power concedes nothing without demand. (a fine Republican named Frederick Douglass said that. I don't think Frederick would be welcome in the GOP of 2004). When it comes to being tough, liberals have had to be.

If Victoria Woodhull, Susan B. Anthony and Ida B. Wells-Barnett weren't tough enough, they'd have been no women's sufferage.
If Mary Ellen Lease, Bob LaFollette, and Upton Sinclair weren't tough enough, would populism and progressive spring from farm country? Would a labor movement have flicker and flamed forth?

FDR was tougher in a wheelchair than W could ever be in a flight suit. Raised a nation out of fear through Depression and Fascism though policies that the RWDW All-Stars would call "communist".

Martin Luther King had 'em baby. You can't put up what what he did and not be tough enough. He was so tough, the right-wing reactionaries had to kill him.

And you can add Shirley Chisholm and Barbara Jordan, too.
And you add all those brave men who didn't or couldn't duck out of Southeast Asia. They wore the camoflague, they killed "Charlie", and when the came home they told the truth. "ENOUGH! We can't win there, we shouldn't be there, and we sure as hell shouldn't send anybody else."

One of those men asked, "How can you ask a man to be the last to die for a mistake."

The man who said those words is being chided now for being "Liberal and weak".

This is one thing we on the left have to remember. Our strength is unquestioned, because the change we seek demands that we have it.

5. I was struck by that "pretty girl conservative" reference, myself
contrasted to "the corn-fed, no make-up, natural fiber, no-bra needing, sandal-wearing, hirsute, somewhat fragrant hippie chick pie wagons they call "women"' she assumed to be Democrats. She sounds like every catty drag queen and transsexual I've ever known, fetishising youth and femininity taken to nearly satirical heights.

I guess it's just one more piece of evidence, eh?

9. They didn't drop one article
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 09:28 AM by johnlal
They dropped the entire daily series of columns. Ann was supposed to file daily commentaries during the convention. She wasn't man enough to do it. USA Today dropped the entire series.

I really like Ann's response:
From Drudge:
"editors found it "unusable" and "not funny."
"Apparently no one at USA TODAY had ever read Ann Coulter before!", said Coulter.

10. Warmonger Coulter...
Can't stand that woman. Why is she so full of hate? Wes she very badly treated by some big bad democrat when she was young or what is her malfunction?

Ann, and all her anti-muslim trigger-happy fascist warpromoters, should be given an M-16 and be sent down to Iraq or Afghanistan instead of having young soliders fighting "their" war. Only then, they may realise that war is a bad thing.

11. Richard Roeper's Take On Ann
Richard Roeper had this to say in today's Chicago Sun-Times when talking about Ann's being dropped by USA Today: "Speaking of ugly: Ann Coulter. I'm not talking about Coulter's physical appearance, though I will say she's looking more and more like a sleep-deprived,chain-smoking drag queen nursing one last vodka-rocks after last call." I couldn't have said it better myself. When is Ann(drew) going to come out of the closet and embrace his/her transgendered brothers and sisters?

12. Remember the She Devils in High School?
Coulter strikes me as nothing more than a Alpha-Heather; a nasty little ex-cheerleader sociopath who has found a way to parley her mastery of the feeding-frenzy mores of H.S. into dubious fame...
