Greetings from Radio K!
I am writing to invite you, your family, and friends to "Radio Independence Day" on Saturday, November 27th, at 8:00 p.m.
We are launching what we call the Independent Public Radio network, which consists of 13 long-standing public radio stations throughout Minnesota, including Radio K. These stations have no affiliation with MPR - a list is below of all member stations.
The party starts at 8:00 p.m at The Times Bar & Cafe and winds through the night at East Hennepin-area venues including Jitters, Bobino Starlight Lounge, Conga Latin Bistro, Keegan's Irish Pub, VIC'S on the Minneapolis Riverfront, and Whitey's. Live performers and DJ's will present a variety of music reflecting the "sound of independence," including jazz, Latin, R&B, folk, house, alternative and more.
Passports will be available at all the clubs for $10, entitling holders to drink specials and free admission at clubs charging a cover, with proceeds benefiting IPR. More information will be available at
http://www.ampers.org beginning Friday, November 12, 2004.
Independent Public Radio station members include:
KAXE-FM (Grand Rapids), KBEM-FM (Twin Cities), KFAI-FM (Twin Cities), KMOJ-FM (Twin Cities), KMSU-FM and KMSK-FM (Mankato/Austin), KQAL-FM (Winona), KSRQ-FM (Thief River Falls), KUMD-FM (Duluth), KUMM-FM (Morris), KUOM-AM & FM (Radio K) (Twin Cities), KVSC-FM (St. Cloud), WCAL-FM and KMSE-FM (Northfield/Rochester)
I hope to see you at Radio Independence Day! Help us spread the word and pass along the info!
