Best man for the CBS job: a woman |
|
Most of their top on-air talent is female. Mika Brzezinski (who anchored last night). Thalia Assuras, who has anchored Saturdays (and would be the second Canadian news anchor in the Lower 48 alongside Jennings). Sharyl Attkisson. Sheila MacVicar. (please not Joie Chen; I specified top on-air talent :-) ) Any preferences?
What an opportunity for CBS to give its doggy last-place newscast an edge and offer something different for a change.
Footnote: The last (and only) time a network (ABC) tried a female (co-)anchor, the vertically challenged Harry Reasoner actually sat on a Manhattan phone book so it would not be glaringly obvious that Barbara Walters was taller!

I know Rather loved her CBS broadcast here in Chicago. I can't think of a better person for the job.

3. I hope they do that too. |

Women and the new generation of teenage girls need more visible, quality role-models to counter the image being put out by the Brittney Spears and Christina Aguileras of the world. I'd love to see a strong woman become the anchor of a major news network.
