DirecTV dropping CNN International
This was a bit of a shock. Maybe they're adding another home shopping channel.

While I'm quick to criticize CNN in general for problems in their coverage, the CNN International Channel is really a useful way to get coverage of world news that is much more in depth than the main CNN, Fox or MSNBC. NWI is it after December 16th. I fired off an email to complain, but doubt it will make a big difference.

Not happy.

1. You Need To Drop DirecTV For Dish...
They have some groovy international news channels, there is this one called CCTV, they have news in French and Spanish...from CHINA! It's wild. The freaking CHINESE NEWS shows footage (like in Iraq) that we aren't allowed to see here. I do speak enough French and Spanish to understand it but even my husband watched is just for the international footage.

9. I've asked for Dish for Christmas.
Tired of watching the non-news, Heck, sometimes I spend so much time on DU, that I don't even remember to look at the NYT or the Wash. Post.!

2. It's the closest corporate TV
has come to actual journalism. Typical that it should be dropped. Another helping of tepid pablum, anyone? Just watch commercial news.

11. I agree
I get it on weekends instead of CNNfn on my cable channel CNNfn will be going off the air next weekend. The channel will be shut down by T/W.

It is very good, it rivials the BBC World newscasts the PBS stations carry an hour tape-delayed.

7. Craptacular
I guess that the "1984" version of media control had to start at some point. Let us hope that people make the connection and keep the Internet online long enough to stop it.

12. CBC is not bad
If you live along the MN/ND border (and probably other US/Canada border areas), they have CBC on local cable networks for those who come and go across the border. The National is one of the better news shows I have seen.

My usual daily dose of Canadian news comes from MPR broadcasting CBC Radio's As it Happens every evening.
