Is the Travel Channel really the Vegas channel. |
|
Between all the freaking poker shows, and the Las Vegas shows...one has to wonder.

2. Think of who advertises on TC... |

And be happy it isn't the cruise ship channel.

3. "Is the United States really the gambling society?" |
|
That might as well be the real question here -- we're spending billions upon billions of dollars in slot machines and $5 blackjack tables.
Why hike a trail in a national park when you can get free margaritas in the sportsbook?

4. It's part of the general downward spiral of all the cable stations |
|
Having had cable since 1988, I've seen the following evolution:
Travel Channel: real travelogues--> infomercials for Las Vegas, celebrity poker
Discovery Channel: real travelogues and nature series--> sensationalized nature shows
A&E: cultural programming and series from the U.K. and Australia-->true crime and reruns of 1970s and 1980s detective series
History Channel--> World War II channel
Learning Channel: documentaries on a variety of subjects--> DIY home and gardening shows and accounts of people's hospital stays
MTV: music videos --> everything but music videos, most of it cheezy
Bravo: foreign and independent films--> celebrity poker with occasional good movies, older series, or interviews with actors
