UK Guardian - Lord and Lady Black sever links with Hollinger

Disgraced press tycoon Conrad Black and his wife Barbara Amiel Black have resigned from the board of Hollinger International, severing their ties with the company they once presided over.

The Chicago Sun-Times publisher and one-time Daily Telegraph owner said it had received letters from both Lord and Lady Black, announcing that their retirement as directors of the board was "effective immediately".

The move comes after a flurry of litigation that stripped Lord Black of his media empire, after an internal investigation that turned up millions of dollars in allegedly unapproved non-compete fees and other bonuses paid to a handful of executives.

Lord Black was once one of the world's best known newspaper owners, with assets including London's Daily Telegraph and the Jerusalem Post, and with his columnist wife, was a staple on the London's social circuit. But his empire began to unravel in late 2003. The rogue fees and bonuses were discovered and he resigned under pressure as the chief executive of Hollinger International and was fired as chairman.'

Hollinger, which owns the Jerusalem Post as well as the Chicago Sun-Times which Mark Steyn (a slightly less virulent Ann Coulter wannabee) works for also has Richard Perle and Henry Kissinger on its board. Black was discredited about two years ago, so this is like the little kid whose been kicked off the team and who says shortly thereafter that he didn't want to be on the team anyhow, stomping his foot!

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm seeing a pattern here: the neocons are fighting amongst themselves, and the illegal regime in the white house is dealing with an ever dwindling list of people to use as scapegoats. Perhaps their unholy alliance is showing the severe signs of falling apart, although it might be years before it actually does, due to the idiot right wing which keeps them in power.

I don't know if the paper was actually sold;

Hollinger to sell Jerusalem Post

Hollinger International has agreed to sell the Jerusalem Post and Jerusalem Report titles to Israeli publisher Mirkaei Tikshoret for $13.2m (£7.1m).

4. As a Canadian.....which Conrad Black was originally....I and my fellow

citizens are laughing out loud at the pompous, self-agrandizing Black's current predicament....When he was in Canada he was constantly informing us that he was just too big for us!....It couldn't happen to a more deserving jerk!
