Jon Stewart - "I'm not going to be your monkey . . . " |
|
When Jon Stewart said this to Lil Tucker Carlson, what did he mean? I think I know, but I want to see what you guys interpretation of that was.

1. Not going to entertain during his visit to CNN. |
|
Going to instead tell Tucker Carlson what he really thinks of "Crossfire."
Ironically, that was entertaining.

5. Here's the post from a conservative on another board I frequent: |
|
"John Stewart is hilarious!!! He is a bit of a hypocrit, though.
He does segmants and makes unsuspecting people look like fools but when questioned by the news man with the bow tie(?? Sorry, cant remember his name) He said he was no ones monkey. Hmmmmmm. Love ya John but a double standard, yes?"
I think she's saying he makes "monkey's" out of "unsuspecting" people. Maybe, but how does that make him a hypocrite?

Does the analogy hold water? Is Stewart being a hypocrit for saying "I won't be your monkey" to wee Tucker while doing it on his show to others?

11. You know, he didn't spare Begala the ridicule any more than Carlson. |
|
And Begala's an expressor of every Democratic party talking point in the book -- From "it's the economy, stupid" to John Kerry being a war hero while George Bush is a draft-dodger coward. Not that I disagree, I'm just pointing out that you should understand that Stewart in no staunch Democrat. While Stewart probably feels that the Democrats are no worse than the lesser of two evils, he still feels more or less independent of both parties. Understanding this will help you deal with Stewart criticizing Democrats as well as Republicans for comparing their political enemies to Hitler and Stalin.

14. Jon Stewart has declared war on CNN |
|
He understands that CNN exists ONLY to provide a forum for political hacks to spout their party lines. CNN is NOT a news organization, when it comes to American politics. I got the feeling from Stewart's appearance on Crossfire last year, that he feels CNN (and many other networks) are doing a horrific DIS-SERVICE to America, by failing to report accuratly on the actions of politicians, and for failing to provide oversight of those same politicians.

Tucker was whining that he expected Jon to come on and be funny (rather than get all serious). I thought Jon's response meant that he wasn't there to entertain Mr. Carlson.

I didn't think her comparison was correct, just couldn't explain why. I think sometimes I get so tired of going toe to toe with 'thugs about majorly important stuff, so much blatent BS, my mind blanks sometimes. Especially about trivial, relatively unimportant things like this. I'm being petty I suppose and just want to prove this person wrong. I love to prove bullies wrong.
