Change coming for Mike Malloy and Randi Rhodes archives.

Friends,

I have just learned that AAR has hired a new VP for Interactive Services, and likely will be starting up its own premium pay site for access to its archives. (Likely in Real Media format only.)

I believe this will eventually mean the end of White Rose Society's permission to archive The Mike Malloy Show and The Randi Rhodes Show as it is difficult to sell what you also give away. However, I have no idea as to when they will get this long-planned yet long-delayed feature off the ground; I felt that I owed it to you guys to give you a "heads up" that change is in the air.

White Rose will not end there, however, as we are constantly looking for voices that need to be heard by a much wider audience. Liberal and Progressive radio is growing in this country, and AAR has no monopoly on good Liberal radio.

I hope that in the future, when AAR is charging for access to the archives, that you will continue to patronize White Rose and give the other voices we feature a chance to win you over.

With the Thom Hartmann pay archives, we have a "value add" in that I manually edit out all commercials and news breaks transforming a three hour show into a two hour show.

And we DO also give it away via streaming (24/7 repeat stream) and a podcast of the unedited version. Also anybody who has a hardship gets a free subscription.

The subscription is mostly a way of supporting Thom and also supporting White Rose with some gentle arm-twisting.

Hey, folks,

I'm NOT complaining.

It is AAR's right to do as they see fit with their programming.

I was just letting folks know that things may change before it suddenly does, as when they ask me to take down the archives, that will happen within minutes of the request.

AAR has every right to try to make a buck on archives, and in fact, I tried to get them to contract with me to do the job, but they decided to go it on their own.
