CNN Cancelling People In The News & Doubling Documentary Unit

CNN is expanding its Documentary Unit, doubling the number of 'CNN Presents' specials, and ending 'People in the News.'

CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein wants more programs like "Dead Wrong" and "Warsaw Rising," and "he's moving resources to make it happen," the network says. The number of documentaries will double from 15 a year to 30.

"About half the staffers from People in the News will be re-assigned to CNN Presents -- with the other half moving to other CNN shows," the NYP's Michael Starr wrote today.

People in the News will end in September; There's no word yet on what will air in its time slot. What will this mean for Paula Zahn, who hosts PitN?
