Cokie "I'll be yer girlfriend for a night, Mr. Delay" Roberts Projecting
Every Monday, Cokie Roberts does a political report for NPR Mourning Edition. This morning she claimed that the Democrats in Congress will not help get the Medicare Prescription Coverage Bill passed because "the Democrats don't want to help George Bush get credit for an issue that should traditionally be a Democratic issue". It seems to me that Roberts is projecting this stance upon the Democrats. I follow politics and I don't see the Democrats taking this position. There is a possibility that such has been reported in more obscure political newspapers, I suppose.

I made this post a question and the question I am asking is whether DUers think that Cokie is projecting this position upon the Democrats. I cannot help but feel that she is stating this to make it look like Democrats are petty political opportunists, in contrast to the politicians in her favorite political party. What do you think?

1. It's more complicated than Cokie is "reporting"
And if she's turned into another media whore, that's no surprise.

Walter Cronkite, please come back and restore some integrity to this profession ...

2. cokie has been a republican mouthpiece
for years now -- since before she left npr.
her obvious disdain for the dems was one of the hallmarks for watching npr lose it's independant reporting status.

5. Nope, her Dad, Hale Boggs was a DEM LA Congressman...

WHich makes it all the more sad she has become such a Bush/REpug mouthpiece. She, as a devout Catholic, seemingly went off the deep end with Clinton's pecadilos. I can't believe I used to like her. About her father, Hale, who was a member of the Warren Commission:

Thomas Hale Boggs

Thomas Hale Boggs, A Democratic Congressman from Louisiana, was killed in an airplane crash in Alaska. He and his party were flying from Anchorage to Juneau, Alaska on October 16, 1972, when the plane went missing. He was born February 15, 1914, in Mississippi Gulf Coast. Mr. Boggs has a correspondence file, and he was involved in the investigation in a bribery case involving the building of the underground parking garage on Capitol Hill. His wife, Lindy Boggs succeeded him in Congress.

Hale Boggs, btw, developed "strong doubts" about the magic bullet theory. His plane and body were never recovered.
