Marines started Cali wildfire?
I Googled this and couldn't find anything on it; therefore I was wondering if anyone had seen any mention of one of the wildfires' having been started by a misdirected bomb at Pendleton. A friend of mine talked to a Marine who seemed to relay this as common knowledge. Could be hearsay, but one never knows.

1. Why are you promoting this?
I see no benefit in attempting to broadcast fiction such as this. Just ridiculous. Has anyone heard that Chelsea Clinton once roasted her roommate's cat in the microwave because she (her roommate, not the cat) used her makeup with asking? Coule be hearsay, but one never knows.

3. How do you know it's fiction?
What if it was Marines who ignited the fires? So what. They can be disgruntled, like anyone else.

All I've heard is that 2 men in a van (?) stopped to throw something burning into the brush which started the fire.

Try to be a little more civil.

4. Apparently

I should've worded my original post more accurately. Allegedly, and this is coming from a Marine (fresh back from Iraq and stationed at Pendleton), a bomb missed a target during a training exercise, and started a fire that quickly got out of control. I only inquired about it here in an effort to locate possible articles about the alleged incident (and I don't mean "alleged" in a formal sense; I am not a journalist), since Google may not be the most reliable search engine these days. I suppose my post title was a bit inflammatory.

But I would love to know what said that "deleted post" down thar.

edit: And I did not mean to suggest that this accident (note: ACCIDENT) started THE WILDFIRES, but A WILDFIRE.

6. There were reports
On the local news here in California during the fires that it was belived that errant training exercises could have ignited one of the fires, but they said it was determined to be untrue. I don't know if it it's true or not, but it was reported on one of the ocal news channels.

5. firestarters
might it be possible that fires are being started by real-estate agents so they can build on favourable ground? It is said to be happening in the south of france pretty often.
