Embedded in Miami
Check out this Counterpunch article by Jeremy Scahill. He reports that the police had "embedded reporters" from the Maimi Herald travelling around with them. Besides raising the obvious concerns about the police going into combat mode in the midst of non-violent demonstrations (it certainly seemed as if the MPD was under the impression that protesters were enemy combatants), this report also begs the question of how news media is going to handle post-war protest events.

There's clearly already a whole lot of anti-protest bias in the mainstream media, but are we looking at a situation where, like war journalism, coverage of protest issues will become totally overcome by police/military/Bush administration ride-along programs?

On a side note, check out Police Chief Timoney's absurd claims that it was the protesters firing tear gas canisters.

Last line from your linked article:

"The mayor said it should be a model for homeland security and that's a very scary comment. There were rampant violations of human rights,"

Yikes. And why wasn't this a bigger story?

4. Because MJ was being arrested.
I was very upset to see all MJ, all the time; while people were getting their heads bashed in down in Florida.
