Bushies vs Downie (Washington Post)

To the outside world, Post executive editor Leonard Downie is a mild-mannered working stiff who will never be Ben Bradlee. Inside the Bush White House, he’s a journo-terrorist.

One senior administration official called him “Osama bin Downie” and said the Post was “leading a jihad against the Bush administration.”

The White House has reason to wince at Post coverage. Walter Pincus, with Dana Priest and Karen DeYoung, forced President Bush to eat his 16 words claiming that Iraq had tried to acquire nuclear material from Africa. The Post has been dogged in its investigation of who leaked the name of CIA spy Valerie Plame.

1. What a lie!
Downie is the #1 Press Whore and he's turned the WHORESHINGTON POST into a neverending GOP propaganda organ.

What planet is the liar who wrote this garbage on?

2. Washingtoninan Mag is always good for laughs...
And this is certainly one of those occassions.

I can only handle getting the Post on Sundays for my ads and the new tv guide, and the real estate section. I don't even read the Op-Ed Section any more because they make me crazy. And some of those headlines are atrocious, considering they frequently don't resemble the story they purport to capture.

The Post has become a Rove suck-up machine in general. I'd say that the Pincus stories are the exception over there, not the rule. And every time I think Dana is coming around, I get disappointed again.

3. Oh yeah. The Plame story. I remember that. Dogged. Yup.
The Post has been dogged in its investigation of who leaked the name of CIA spy Valerie Plame.

Oh yeah, the Plame story. I remember that. I think. Weren't there some stories about that a couple o' months ago? I seem to have a vague memory tickle somewhere about it.

Well, a pretty lazy dog. But dogged nonetheless, right?
