Ron Reagan Jr. Steps Up to Bat With Left Chat |
|
On Monday, July 28, Ron Reagan started a week-long run as guest co-host on MSNBC’s Buchanan & Press, with the son of the former President sitting decidedly to the left of Pat Buchanan. But Mr. Reagan was doing more than just filling the seat of vacationing co-host Bill Press; he told The Observer that he hopes to anchor his own liberal-leaning talk show. And what better place to test his talking head than against Old Man Crossfire himself, the squinty-eyed hatchet man who, after all, worked for his father back in the day. Having spent the past three years hosting dog shows on the cable network Animal Planet, Mr. Reagan relishes the idea of going up against the bark and bite of the right wing.
"I’d love to do another talk show, and I’m talking to some other people about that," he said following his Buchanan & Press appearance. "I’m still in the planning stages, and I think there’s a lot of room for this. Despite this supposed ‘liberal bias’ in the media, I can hardly find any on TV."http://www2.observer.com/observer/pages/frontpage6.asp

1. These poor Reagan children |
|
They all seem to cry out "Look at Me" because when they were children they were continually ignored by their parents.

2. I caught Ron Jr yesterday.... |
|
He was actually damn good. They had both a Dem and Repug strategist on about Shrub's chances of re-election and when the repug, who's name I know but can't recall, Castellano? (sp?), well, most of you have seen this dude with the mustache, anyhow...He basically made the claim of the administration being straight and honest with the American people, etc., And Jr. was incredulous: "This administration is honest?? On what???" He was definitely major left leaning.
And I've seen Ron Jr. in a variety of formats and I think he would make a great liberal talk show dude. He's young, he's got the "name" and he's seen many of these right-wing kooks in action, up close and personal.
And, he hates Bush.
I say: "Bring it on, Ron."

3. Yay Ron! This could be one of the hosts w/enuf clout |
|
like those on the left and right have been saying doesn't exist, hence the dearth of left-leaning talk radio/TV!
I like this guy, always have but particularly since he wrote that great column for Slate a couple of months ago.
Plus he has the same last name as that large metropolitan airport so that ought to lend him some cred, huh?

5. who dares to attack him? |
|
Who would dare attack the son of the Gipp?!?
I know him from his dog show work. He sounds eerily like his dad.
I think it's cool that he doesn't share his politics, though. Neither does his sister!

10. Alex Castellano is the Cuban-American campaign media consultant |
|
who created that obnoxious "DemocRATS" subliminal, or SUBLIMINABLE message which made so many of us disgusted in 2000's Presidential campaign.
I've seen him on talk shows, and he's extremely fast and shifty. If Ron could keep up with his dodges and feignts, with far less talk show experience, that's pretty damned good!

I've never watched Buchanan and Press. What is it's format like and what time is it on? Anyway I hate Buchanan. Anyone who says that Hitler was a man of "great courage" is a nut.

7. i've always liked Ron Jr. |
|
in his program in the 80s, he presented really good arguments. i felt that way even though i thought he was a repug.
quite interesting when the son of the most popular president to repugs does not respect the shrub admin.

He was veyr good, a lot better than Bill Press, or Paul Begalia. . I didn't know he was Reagan's child though, I just assumed he got stuck with a very unfortunate name for left leaning circles.
