Which Sunday morning political talk show is the worst? |
|
The candidates are This Week, Meet the Press, and Face the Nation (I'm not sure there's any other major show on).
I think This Week is atrociously bad and infuriating. First, there's the milksoppiness of host George Stephanopolous. Wasn't this guy a Democrat? Then there's the lack of any important guests. What we normally get is Fareed Zakaria talking about what he thinks is good for America and George Will trying to make Bush-ism look respectable. And there's the cheapness of the show masked with high-tech looking television panels and a best of the week segment. It makes me want to puke. I have to watch it every week in my government class because my right-wing idiot teacher likes it.

2. MTP because people still seem to see it as the most credible |

of the bunch, but Russert is the worst of the crew, most biased of all the "mainstream TV journalists", and still "highly repsected" for his "tough" interviews.
People actually told me that he was "brutal" and "probing" in his hour with Shrub. I did catch his eyes roll a couple of time as shitstick floundered on some inane point or another. That was funny, but he never pressed him or called him on his various lies. Fortunately, dumbass couldn't take advantage of the softballs and lack of followup. That was why the thing was so clearly a fiasco for Bush and co. It was a potential walkover, and he blew it for all to see.
But people still believe this guy (Russert), what he says has weight, and that is why he and his show are the worst of a bad lot.

With all the whoosh sound effects and gimmicks, and the smarmy conservative bias, it is unwatchable. MTP is far more dignified whatever its faults. You can't help but be impressed to see the original MTP set on display in the Smithsonian exhibit on the American presidency.

You could make the point that the ratings of these shows are abysmal. Of course, things could be even worse! There is Fox News and no one should ever have to see that. They invented hyper-hubris and negative-shame all on the same day.
