CNN just advertised that "More Americans watch CNN than any |
|
other news channel."
I know FAUX held that claim for the past several years. Does this mean that Americans have moved from Bush (FAUX) to Bush lite (CNN)?

1. I can't provide a source |

but I've read somewhere that in certain situations...especially breaking international news...people tend to tune to CNN. I certainly remember that to be true when we started the war with Iraq, much to the chagrin of FAUX.

2. As Far as I Know, Fox News Still Has Higher Ratings |
|
but it's built on a smaller base watching for a longer period of time. I would guess that CNN has more viewers with a shorter average viewing time.

3. When you hear them say that... |
|
...see if there is some really small print on the bottom of the screen. That should tell what they base the claim on. It's sort of like the really, really fast disclaimer in the Big Announcer Auto Ads on radio.

There was a study recently that indicated that Fox was ahead in "points." This pretty much amounted to FOX getting more points for being watched more often but more people actually watch CNN. So newsaholic crack fiends keep Fox on 24 7 while alot of people tune into CNN for brief periods.

6. Someone I spoke to a few months back said CNN bills more than FOX |
|
...commercial cost more and CNN makes more money.
I also recall a Pew research survey that named CNN the most trusted.

They get average more viewers over the day. Fox does considerably better in prime time. However, what I like to point out is that Fox has more "action" oriented sensational argumentative shows. Their primetime line up is 3 hours of yelling and argueing. CNN has (other than Larry King) straight ahead news/newsy magazine segments. Not nearly as sexy - or something that would pull you in immediately.
To count Fox's infotainment shows as news to me doesn't cut it, they belong along the like of E!, Court, VH1 or really the network crap.
