NEW YORK - Ellen DeGeneres’ program won best talk show Friday in its rookie year, but Wayne Brady won the Daytime Emmy award as best talk show host even though his program has been canceled.

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show’s” lighthearted blend of talk and music, coupled with the comedian’s role as the voice of Dora in “Finding Nemo,” capped a comeback for a career that stalled after she came out as a lesbian.

After kissing her mother, Betty, she thanked television executives who convinced station managers across the country that people still wanted to see her on TV.

I used to watch her show (it came on from 2pm - 3pm) right before I had to go in for Swing shift. Now that I am on Owl shift I am just getting out of bed or still sleeping at that time..

Her show is just so enjoyable to watch!

Or if you can't program your VCR, get a TiVo and let it do the thinking for you. (But honestly, if you can't program a present-day VCR, you don't deserve to have a driver's license.)

I work an overnight shift, too, and I learned a long time ago to treasure my sleep. And to let my appliances do the hard work for me while I slept.

As for DeGeneris, you're right. I remember when Martin Short tried to do a talk show, and failed miserably. He completely lost his sense of humor during that show's agonizing run, winding up doing his "Jiminy Glick" character. I was afraid DeGeneris would turn out the same way. Glad to see she didn't.

9. I HATE morning talk shows

but even I admit hers is well above average.She's super likable!
