4. OT - About the term "conservatard"

Once upon a time, long, long ago when DU was very young, we had a discussion of the use of the word "retard." I--and I think most DUers who spoke up at that time--tend to feel it is rather insensitive.

You might want to coin another expression, one that does not to further stigmatize individuals and families dealing with mental/physical retardation.

This is my first post. WOW. I would just like to say that I went to that site and it is just the same as your website except just not as evolved. I mean they are doing the same thing you are doing. Name calling and taking cheap shots at the other side. I am a republican but I do not believe in that site any more than I believe in the message of this site. The reason I am in here is because I heard on the radio about this site and I was interested. I would like to see if their is any intelligent debates that I could take part in and so far I have just found strings of name calling one sided arguments. But republic sites are just the same.

Anyways, also I would like to say I have seen you guys commenting on the intelligence of conservatives and if there are mistakes within this post, don't use that as saying conservatives are dumb. I am just 16 and I cannot figure out english grammar. eh.

So I would just like to say that what some of what you guys are saying is a double standard since all I have read so far is a lot of name calling and bashing. Although I have not explored all of the forums so I will see. I am not going to judge this whole forum from a few posts that I have seen.

Im a libertarian that has been on these boards in various forms (mostly dueto forgetting my password) for about a year. You win some you loose some, ive been deleted for some really stupid stuff on this site, but many time it is likely to get a good debate going. DU has alot of intelligent people, it also has some hateful people too but the moderators catch lot of them. The namecalling is just part of the territory, you going to find hypocrites wherever you go.
