Who's Openly Gay in the Bush Administration?
the NYTimes said today:

"But Bush campaign advisers said the president's political speeches would mention his opposition to gay marriage only in a careful formulation, to avoid alienating moderate voters who might otherwise see bigotry in his views.

Mr. Bush, who has appointed gays to important jobs in his administration, has taken a position on gay marriage that Democrats said seemed to be carefully aligned with the polls, even though the official White House stance is that the president has no interest in polls."

3. His AIDS Czar

I don't remember his name. (He must be doing so much important stuff behind the scenes :D ) Ensuring that nice Christian little old ladies in Missouri remain convinced that AIDS = gay men remains the basic equation bestowed by Our Lord upon His Blessed Nation, in any case.

"the president has not interest in polls"- HA!

Just look at how they by sheer coincidence roll out a spanking new domestic whopper of mass distraction absolutely every time his approval rating drops to/under 50%. Problem is, people are getting annoyed with it and catching on.

9. please
bring your "rational thought" to the board. i'll find out what i want to know elsewhere, since not only does no one know who the gay people bush has apponted are, but "it doesn't matter"

i guess when they legislate a constitutional amendment against you, i'll tell you it doesn't matter, ok?

11. it shows what kind of direction the administration is taking
if an administration has openly gay people in it in high ranking positions, it's more than likely to support gay issues

if it doesn't, more than likely it doesn't support those issues

they are openly gay Repukes out there that I'm sure are qualified to serve in government at some of the highest levels but where are they?

Just remember Jesse Helms' attempt to block the nomination of Roberta Achtenberg as an undersecretary at HUD--called her a damn lesbian

I don't know if Bush hates gay people but he and his buddies sure aren't crazy about them

13. Bush has indicated he would support a constitutional amendment...
Edited on Sat Jan-24-04 10:24 AM by Paschall
...that would make gay marriage illegal. If such an amendment passed, it would be the first time the Constitution has been modified to restrict civil liberties rather than expand them. Ever.

In other words, it would be historical and it would be anti-gay. What else do you want? Wanna hear how all Shrub's "faith-based" initiatives funnel money to churches and religious groups who claim they have a right to discriminate against gays in hiring because it violates their religious principles?

No one is saying sexuality "qualifies" a person for a job--except Shrub and his cohorts who are saying it indirectly when they claim sexuality disqualifies a person for a job. Ask the Commander in Chief what he did to save the jobs of all those gay translators who were booted out of the military just at the time we were needing their expertise in Middle Eastern languages.

8. You know, if somebody's purple
You should help them, they're choking! :D

I'm just kidding, really I think you're right, a person't sexual preference is kinda personal.

(By the way, I think W demonstrated he intends to alienate the gay vote)

I did a little more research, and I don't think he likes the idea of gay marriages. Nice to see a little humor on the board. :)

I thought conservatives are supposed to be in support of keeping the gov't OUT of our lives. So why does the gov't care if 2 guys get married? And spending, isn't it 1.5 MILLION dollars to prevent it?! It would be funny if it wasn't so stupid.

10. Cheney's daughter
is a lesbian. She's not really part of the administration but still. Love her to death, but I find it interesting that when the topic comes up, more times than not Cheney shuts up. As far as I know he's always been supportive of her. *shrug*
