Akron Teachers To Vote Wednesday On Deal (OH)
Vote On Settlement Reached Last Week

POSTED: 2:57 pm EDT August 9, 2005

AKRON, Ohio -- The 2,300-member Akron teachers' union will vote Wednesday evening on a tentative contract agreement.

Details of the agreement will not be announced pending ratification, school spokeswoman Karen Ingraham and union president William Siegferth said separately Tuesday.

The school board in the district of more than 27,000 students scheduled a meeting Thursday to review the tentative agreement.

The teachers union and district began talks in February and reached a settlement late Thursday. <snip>
