Hmm; I guessed it would break 10k and today it has, off 729 points at the time of writing. I'll cautiously predict it hits 7500 before this crisis is over, or even dips slightly below.
Usual disclaimers apply: the DOW is not the be-all and end-all of finance. Also, beofre anyone jumps in with rants about Wall Street thieves and so on, please bear in mind that this is a global problem: a bunch of big European banks have also been having severe problems, and something similar to our situation is happening over there as well as in some Asian markets (though not, happily, in Japan). So part of the reason for this sell-off is that European investors are pulling money out of our market to deal with their own banking crisis. This will be a bad week for anyone who owns stocks, directly or indirectly.
I'm sure this will provoke another wave of pro/anti bailout invective. If you must vent on the subject, please try to be polite, and avoid flamebait like 'anyone who supports the bailout is a thief' or 'anyone opposed to the bailout has a death wish'.
