Mouse Print: exposing the downsizing of all of our products
Watching a report on the Today Show about a man who tracks the products that get downsized yet cost the same.

Check out the link here: http://www.mouseprint.org/

I added it to my favorites - hope it is a helpful link for you!

1. Very good
Thanks for posting that. I've been noticing the downsizing in the grocery store for quite some time. It's really unfuriating. It's as if these companies don't think we have any memory.

BTW: The guy behind MousePrint.org and other sites is consumer lawyer Edward Dworsky:
Edgar is a consumer lawyer who has authored a number of consumer protection laws, including the regulations under which the Massachusetts Lemon Law operates. He was formerly the Director of Consumer Education at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation in Boston. Edgar is a former Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General in consumer protection, and was a consumer education consultant for the Federal Trade Commission. He was also the consumer reporter for the then CBS television affiliate in Boston.

4. Downsizing is a hidden rise in the cost of living which
doesn't show up in the statistics that determine colas.

5. They don't take that into account?
Really?

I've always bought with respect to the ounce or the pound and not to the package.

You'd think that an important survey would be able to take that into account.

Can you supply a link to the place you can find this info?

7. Don't need a site..seen up front and in person..
5 lbs of sugar is now 4 lbs..same price or more, Ragu small jar of spaghetti sauce did make just the right amount of sauce, now it doesn't..not enough in the jar. Just to name two instances.

8. Umm.... I think you misunderstood.

I was talking about the way the Cost of Living Allowance or the Consumer Price Index is calculated. They don't evaluate "a jar of spaghetti sauce" for instance. They would likely realize that not all "jars" of spaghetti sauce would be the same or even stay the same.

The local TV station does a shopping basket check every month. You might expect them to overlook product downsizing, being celebrity eye candy and all, but not how the COLA is calculated or the CPI.

So to be more precise; can you supply a link that supports your direct contention that "Downsizing is a hidden rise in the cost of living which

doesn't show up in the statistics that determine colas."?
