Gulf countries will create a single monetary union
Участники проходящего в Маскате 29-го саммита стран-членов Совета сотрудничества арабских государств Персидского залива (ССАГПЗ) приняли решение о создании единого валютного союза. Participants held in Muscat on 29 th Summit of member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) have decided to create a single currency union. Вопрос о стране, в которой будет находиться штаб-квартира единого Центрального банка, будет решен в ближайшие пять месяцев. Question of the country, which will be the headquarters of a single central bank, will be resolved in the next five months.

ССАГПЗ, который был создан в 1981 году (Бахрейн, Катар, Кувейт, Объединенные Арабские Эмираты, Оман и Саудовская Аравия), в настоящее время является одной из самых успешных на Ближнем Востоке региональных организаций, связанных целых рядом политических и торгово-экономических соглашений. GCC, which was established in 1981 (Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman and Saudi Arabia), is currently one of the most successful in the Middle East, the regional organizations of the whole number of political and economic agreements. Создание единого валютного совета рассматривается руководством шести стран в качестве очередного шага на пути формирования единой для "шестерки" финансовой системы. Ранее страны-члены ССАГПЗ планировали создать единый валютный союз к 2010-му году. Previously, member countries are planning to create a unified GCC monetary union by 2010. Однако реализацию этой идеи пришлось отложить на неопределенный срок в связи отказом руководства Омана вступить в этот союз в указанные сроки, напоминает ИТАР-ТАСС. 3. ask the automatic translator
that Izvestia uses. They have an icon asking for better translations.
What is the comparison of Izvestia news these days to MainStreet Media?

goings on in the Soviet government. Of course, detailed analysis such as we might expect was limited......

As comparison, remember that Pravda was the organ of the Communist Party.

I suppose someone who reads your question has the answer.I don't even know what language it is in. It could be there is someone in the FBI that has that level of skill in translation. Sorry. I cannot even read German or Hebrew. Its not Yiddish.

7. Ah, it's Russian
Is that really so hard to establish? '.ru' = Russia. Izvestia has been around for ever, though it's less well known than Pravda.

Anyway, it's not that breaking news, this has been in the works for a while. google 'Gulf states currency union' and you'll get lots of hits. http://english.aljazeera.net/business/2008/12/20081230153346616980.html (in English). Doubt it will make a whole lot of difference outside of the countries directly involved.

8. some older people read Russian

and have little or no English reading skills. Older people take longer to catch up with the computer, probably, and DU in particular. Maybe they would appreciate the original Russian with the English translation.
Choosing a 'chairman' is slowing things down. Is there a problem of arrogance involved?

9. I presume that a good English source did not exist for the
article, in which case it shows excellent scholarship on the part of the OP. It is entirely appropriate to give us a chance to verify the translation even if it is in an uncommon language.

We should have more of that. People are too accustomed to drawing from sources with little or no credibility.

Other than that, the other response is in Rumanian, but for what reason only the poster can say.

Literally "Why did you paste (stick) all that in a foreign language?"

11. according to government sources
the comment seems to loop, at least it has me questioning. The translation was not by Izvestia, it was by Google - a rough service translation. I was surprised to see the alternating lines of Russian and English. If I knew it(paste) would appear I would not have labored to type the English translation. This DUer is still learning to use this site.
Thank you for your comments.
