Nothing Obama is planning is really enough to turn things around. His measures will aid the struggling economy but not change it. Is he purposely
going to let the situation deteriorate to such a low state that it will appear that he is helpless and has no other course but to institute the
measures that will save the country like the New Deal

1. I can't believe you'd think that of him. |

You had best get behind your President. He's what we've got for the next four years and there isn't any better in the wings.
Work hard to make Obama look good for the next four years and if he's really bad we'll have an opportunity to make a change. Until then, you're just shooting yourself in the foot. Do that too many times and you'll be lame for life.

if you are building a new house tomorrow, you should have at least broken some ground today. I voted for him, but I don't see even the beginnings of
a change. For starters, his tax break should have been a tax increase on upper incomes. A $20,000 dollar sur charge on seven million millionaires
wouldn't have hurt them a bit but would have shot $140 billion in the treasury. We need to get money in the system, and get it spending. But can we
even dare to talk about suspending some of the recent and future EPA rulings about to click in as well as some of the 1991 Clean Air Act measures.

2. Whether or not it's intentional, the result will be the same |

Every man who is elected into the office of president is shown into a room, offered a Cuban cigar and snifter of the finest brandy, and then told what he will and will not be allowed to do by the men who think they own the country.
Undoubtedly we are seeing the results of that lecture right now.
Events have a way of changing a president's course and change happens when they start to have reason to be afraid of us.

I don't think any president is in more than marginal control of events. Try to go off the reservation and see what happens. You can be laid in your grave like Kennedy, or merely consigned to the dustbin of history like Carter.
Never underestimate the persuasive power of fine brandy, a great cigar and a quiet voice -- all backstopped by a big box of black cash and a little black book of phone numbers.
The next year will tell the tale of Barack vs. The Powers That Be.

4. The next year won't tell much, IMO |

but 2010 will start to tell us just how courageous he is.

5. I like that new phrase |

I heard from that Indian reporter. " Riding the Tiger " If you get off you will get killed. I aint afraid of anything, but I'd rather be me than
facing what expected of Barack.
