FUBAR Flyover NYC costs taxpayers over 300K
The fuel alone was 35,000.

Heart attacks, if any, were free, I guess.

1. That's chump change to them. As for citizens? Why should they care?
They're the MILITARY BRASS.

2. Did anyone ever give a real reason for the flyover?
I wonder how much this guy was paid by Cheney and co. to disengage his brain and give the order. I hope Obama fires his ass.

3. I do know one thing about the flyover, having seen the Youtube video.
They flew at about the same altitude ( reportedly 1000-1500 feet ) as the 9-11 planes, in the same area, and it was incredibly noisy over a huge area. The noise is what made the people on the ground panic, before the plane was in view.
Yet the films and recordings of the actual 9-11 attacks were not as noisy on the ground.
In fact, witnesses said they "saw" the building hit and "heard" the impacts, no one said they heard that god-awful roar for blocks before the impacts.
The famous French team video, which the FBI got before it was released, showed firemen looking up only 3 seconds before impact, when they should have heard the plane roaring over their heads before that.
There is one short amateur video of a guy standing a block away from tower 2, noticing nothing, and he did not look up until the tower was impacted.
the noise of a plane at that altitude should have made him look up.

So, dunno bout the flyover, but the flight patten was the vicinity of where the towers used to be.

4. 9/11 planes were going much, much faster, IIRC.

"Photo-op" plane was probably going as slow as possible in order to get good pictures.

That is, if one accepts the explanation that the whole thing was about getting good pictures!

I generally try to resist donning the tinfoil hat... but c'mon! This was such an epically stupid thing to do, that I'd almost RATHER believe it was a sinister plot of some kind!

:D

5. Angle of approach.
Jet engines are loudest from behind, and the 9/11 planes bored straight in, at full power.

This photo op flight orbited around, so the noise was, at some point, directed right at the people watching and filming. Plus the accompaniment of a F-15 or similar chase plane.
