Paulson & Goldman Sachs, The Plot Thickens
Paulson & Goldman Sachs, The Plot Thickens (A View From The UK)

A reader emailed us this excellent video from Channel 4 News in Great Britain. Their economics reporter is Faisal Islam, and he's put together a little clip that you'll enjoying seeing. Interestingly, on he laments the lack of transparency with the UK bailouts and praises our own. Odd in that most observers here make the same complaint about our own particular bailout bastion of disaster.

1. I still say Paulson let Lehman fail at G/S request.
After that, it was "Save The Investment Banks!!!!"

They always hated Lehman for punching above their weight.

2. At this point
I really do wonder if this all happened for the purpose of Goldman and J.P. Morgan destroy their competitors.

3. My feelings exactly.
They knew what was coming, and positioned their people in the places that could do them the greatest good in regards to keeping their own interests afloat, and doing as much damage to the competition as possible.

I suppose if Lehman basically ran the NY Fed like G/S and Morgan does, the shoe would have been on the other foot.
