According to Rick Berman, the minimum wage earner is actually making
more than the median ...

That really is strange math ...

1. Yeah, didn't he say on Rachel last night that minimum wage workers make over $50,000 a year?
I want me one of them minimum wage jobs. I wonder if Rick Berman can direct me to one of those $50,000 a year minimum wage jobs? I could use a $34,000 a year raise, for that matter I could use a damn job.

2. I thought that was sooo laughable.

He should tell that to my sister who works in retail. She would laugh, too, except I think it would impair her ability to hit him accurately with a sledgehammer.

To add: Before I lost it, I had a job that earned me WAAAAY above minimum wage, and I still wasn't making anything like $50K a year.

Berman is an effing joke.

3. I heard him say that too last night and I almost fell out of bed!
I could hear Joe Wilson's voice in my head saying, "You LIE!"

7. actually he said *families* at some point in his answer
So, I think the calculation is: how many people in a family working how many minimum wage jobs each would it take to make $50,000?

So, what, two adults with two jobs each, and maybe the kids with babysitting/paper route income ought to do it. Piece o'cake. Except, of course, they can't afford cake. But if they could...

:eyes:

11. It would take 3 and 1/4 persons to make $50,000 a year on minimum wage.
So, Mom has a full time job. Dad would have to have 2 jobs and the kid would need a part time job.

But no one is getting 40 hours anymore so both Mom and Dad would need 2 jobs, and I seriously doubt they would have time to make any kids.

Yeah, you can make $50,000 a year on minimum wage if you are lucky enough to land enough jobs. But then you are never home or get to sleep.

4. 50,000/per annum (gross) is $25/per hour 40 hour week
A good policy by the media would be to "ban" any "expert" who says something
so contrary to reality as to be in the realm of the absurd. It exposes them
for what they are - shameless schills.

6. See, you guys are all missing the point.
You can make 50K per year on minimum wage. You just have to work 7000 hours a week.

Come on, the math is simple.....

9. An argument can be made that slavery would be
a better deal than working for minimum wage. Minimum wage is certainly a better deal (more profitable) for the "employer" than owning slaves would be.

10. yeah, but then the corporations would be lobbying for tax breaks
and incentives for "being regulated" to having to own slaves ...
