China Unwilling To Join Post-Kyoto Accord - Asahi Shinbun
Not to worry - take your time! I'm sure we've got DECADES left before we actually do anything!

:puke:

BEIJING--China should not be obligated to join any post-Kyoto Protocol international pact to curb global warming, a senior Chinese environmental official said here Wednesday.

Han Wenke, director-general of the Beijing-based Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, said China was simply not ready to join an international framework to combat global warming after the Kyoto Protocol expires in 2012.

Han, speaking at a two-day symposium on bilateral issues, said, however, that China would step up its domestic efforts to reduce CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions.

Earlier, Kunio Umeda, a senior diplomat at the Japanese Embassy in Beijing, called on China to take part in anti-global warming efforts that will follow the Kyoto Protocol.
