Karen may turn toward U.S. East Coast, depression forms
Fri Sep 28, 2007 11:28am EDT

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Even as Tropical Storm Karen
weakened over the central Atlantic on Friday, weather
models showed the storm could turn westward toward
Puerto Rico or the East Coast of North America over
the next five days.

Elsewhere in the Atlantic, the U.S. National Hurricane
Center said Tropical Depression 14 formed about 210
miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands.

Karen, meanwhile, was about 805 miles east-northeast
of the Windward Islands of Dominica, Martinique, Saint
Lucia, Saint Vincent, the Grenadines and Grenada at
about 11 a.m. EDT, the NHC said in a report.

It was too soon to say where, if at all, either storm
would make landfall.

3. If it would bring me a drop of rain
I'd welcome it.
Not that it'll make it to VA but I can hope. In the past 4 months it's rained once in my neighborhood of Arlington.

4. I feel you stuntcat. Here in the Atlanta area, we have been issued
a total watering ban today. We are in one of the severest droughts ever. I think I can count of two hands the number of times it has rained significantly since January 1st. I would never want a tropical storm/hurricane to cause any damage to any property or take any life. But if one could just provide a little drought relief to the southeast, I would be oh so thankful. This is getting scary.
