All-Time Monthly Ethanol Production Record for May

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) has announced the US ethanol industry set an all-time monthly production record in May of 221,000 barrels per day (b/d). May was the eighth consecutive all-time monthly production record. Production was up 26 percent compared to last May when 175,000 b/d of ethanol were produced.


The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) says ethanol industry is expected to produce more than 3.3 billion gallons in 2004, up from 2.81 billion gallons in 2003. Currently, 78 ethanol plants have the capacity to produce more than 3.3 billion gallons annually. Ten additional plants under construction will add over 400 million gallons of annual production capacity.

If that's not a blatant case of alcohol abuse, I don't know what is. I suspect that right now there are Bored Housewives, Underemployed College Kids, and a Chimpanzee in the White House just dying for a drink and this is what they're doing with ethanol nowadays?
