Enel's power plant for Albania (new coal plant)
Even better, it would be imported coal.

The Italian company plans to build a thermal power plant, fuelled by imported coal with an estimated capacity of approximately 1,300 MW, which would supply electricity to both the Italian and Albanian markets.

(...)

Albania has been suffering a succession of severe energy crises in the last few years, due its total dependence on hydro-power for the generation of electricity, an obsolete distribution network and growing demand from an increasingly-prosperous population.

1. This is not a plant FOR Albania.
ENEL has a wonderful way of building power plants for Italy in other people's countries.

Italy is the only country in Europe that actually took action on its nuclear phase out, making it more than talk.

The results are pretty clear, by the way. Even though Italy has some of the greatest geothermal potential in Europe, it is a dangerous fossil fuel freakout in that country. They can't burn dangerous fossil fuels fast enough and as is typical of anti-nukes, they couldn't care less about dangerous fossil fuels.

2. Yes, they seemed to be pursuing the export market.
Sort of ironic, given that they mention the Albanian power shortage in the same article.
