Bottled water indefensible
Drinking bottled water is almost morally indefensible, a government minister has suggested in a scathing attack on the industry.

Phil Woolas, the Environment Minister, said it was daft that six million litres of bottled water were drunk every day in Britain when safe tap water was universally and cheaply available. His comments echoed concerns among environmentalists, who believe that the packaging, transportation and disposal of bottled water products creates unnecessarily high carbon-dioxide emissions.

How long has it taken to make this conclusion!!

1. I buy a bottle of water every few weeks
and keep filling it with tap water. I use a Brita filter, too.

I have always had a hard time understanding how this industry became such a big deal. The only good thing about it is that it is now acceptable to carry around a bottle of water. I am always thirsty.

2. I normally wouldn't buy it.
But I buy about 10 cases right before hurricane season. If the power goes, the water goes.

3. to say nothing of the plastic needed---reliance on petrol, refuse
the plastic filling up the landfills, not degrading, continuing our dependence on petroleum....

drinking too much water is unhealthy....the 8 glasses a day was a myth

drinking too much can actually lower IQ....whenever I see some idiot with their water bottle, I suspect that's what's happened

5. Do you have a reference to the IQ claim?
I'd like to see that study.

I agree about the bottles.

4. The only ottled water I buy is seltzer
It gives you the fizz but no calories. Still, I wish they would put it in glass bottles.

6. watch THE CORPORATION DVD. It's part of the push to privatize and commodatize everything
Democrats should be saying privatization of essential services is corruption and economic terrorism.
