Pray-in for gas prices (from the demon-haunted-world files)
Like savages living in the ruins of our ancestors' civilization. How humiliating.

Twyman - a community organizer, church choir director and public relations consultant from the Washington, D.C., suburbs - staged a pray-in at a San Francisco Chevron station on Friday, asking God for cheaper gas. He did the same thing in the nation’s Capitol on Wednesday, with volunteers from a soup kitchen joining in. Today he will lead members of an Oakland church in prayer.

Yes, it’s come to that.

“God is the only one we can turn to at this point,” said Twyman, 59. “Our leaders don’t seem to be able to do anything about it. The prices keep soaring and soaring.”

…”God, deliver us from these high gas prices,” Twyman said. “That’s all they have to say.”

1. Hell, go for it
If you're going to die from ignorance, might as well do it in style.

6. A full ceremony would be quite something ...
... especially at the part where they light the candles ...

2. Sigh. And I suppose that if prices DON'T come down, the good
reverend will attribute it to God's unhappiness about SF's gays........

THat seems to be all the rage among the noisiest "christians".

4. No doubt. And also, god is probably testing us.
Plus, his ways are mysterious!

5. Hey, God answers all prayers
And sometimes the answer is, "NO"

3. That's a little bit frightening
While they are praying for cheaper gas I'm learning about alternative fuels and trying my best lower my consumption of fossil fuels.

Superstitious wishing isn't going to fix this crisis.

7. As the saying goes . . .
"Two hands working are better than 100 hands praying."
