A world class challenge for the innovative among you
Between 15,000 - 30,000 feet there exists a huge wind resource. Google 'high altitude wind' and you'll find a couple of interesting sites that discuss the possibilities and challenges.

Can anyone evaluate the possibilities for tapping into this?

How much does a 10MW generator weigh?

How much does 3-5 miles of transmission cable weigh?

What about weather conditions?

Just something to occupy your mind with for the next few years...

There was a show that documented a successful attempt to use a kite to lift a stone obelisk weighing several tons into an upright position - using technology available to the ancient Egyptians. Well, they had to use a few modern items, but the point is, the lift force is there.
