18% of New Cars Cost Over $100 to Fill
With gasoline prices in the United States now averaging US$4.06 per gallon nationwide, there are 60 separate new vehicle models whose owners will pay US$100 or more for a fill-up, according to a new analysis by consumer research firm Edmunds.com. That's 18% of the new models sold.

The firm also calculates that the median U.S. household is spending 11.5% of its income on gasoline expenses, up from 4.6% five years ago. "Gas prices are rising much faster than household incomes," said Jesse Toprak, an analyst at Edmunds. "The result is a difficult situation in which consumers must alter their driving habits or make other sacrifices in their lives."

"The $100 gas tank is a daunting psychological barrier for many consumers," said Philip Reed, senior consumer advice editor for Edmunds. "Even drivers who need their big trucks and SUVs may start to reconsider their purchase decision once the gas pump reaches that horrifying $100 number."

1. Good Post
I know a few delivery drivers who own their routes (Pepperidge Farm, Brownberry Bread, Sara Lee, etc) who need larger vehicles (small box trucks) to carry their products and they are suffering badly. Our Sara Lee driver tries to park his truck one day per week and us a pick up to carry just enough to top off his shelves on that day. The Pepperidge Bread driver has cut back deliveries, the Pepperidge Cookie has told me that some pumps won't go beyond $99.00 and he can only put in that much at that refill.

Everyone is making some sort of adjustment to fuel costs and of course prices of the products they deliver have skyrocketed...

3. I'm confused on the response
I am a receiver at a grocery store and talk with drivers pretty much all the time, since they are the people I deal with on a daily basis.
